Downtime Cost Calculator

When an EWP goes down mid-job it isn't just the repair that costs money — it's the crew standing idle, the work that doesn't get done and the schedule that slips. This calculator puts a number on that using your own figures: how many people are affected, their loaded labour cost per hour, the hours lost each day and how many days the machine is out.

The point isn't the exact dollar figure — it's the contrast. Planned maintenance and scheduled inspections carried out on your terms almost always cost less than a breakdown that lands at the worst possible moment. If reactive failures are eating your schedule, let's talk about getting ahead of them. Call 0416 689 689.

The Detail

How This Works & Assumptions

The calculator multiplies out the labour standing idle: cost per day = crew size × loaded labour cost per hour × hours lost per day, and total cost multiplies that by the number of days down. It captures the lost-productivity side of a breakdown — usually the biggest and most overlooked cost.

Assumptions: every figure is yours. "Loaded" labour cost means the true hourly cost including on-costs, not just the base wage. The tool deliberately excludes the repair bill itself, hire of a replacement machine, liquidated damages and reputational cost — so the real number is usually higher. It's a planning aid, not an accounting figure.

The point is the comparison: planned maintenance and scheduled inspections carried out on your terms almost always cost less than an unplanned failure at the worst moment. If reactive breakdowns are hurting your schedule, let's get ahead of them — call 0416 689 689, or read up on our repairs and annual inspection services.
