Is a cherry picker the same as a boom lift?
The terms overlap, but a cherry picker in Australia most often refers to a truck-mounted boom EWP. A boom lift can also be a self-propelled machine that moves around a work site under its own power.
Access Equipment Guide
In Australia, a cherry picker usually means a truck-mounted EWP with an articulating or telescopic boom and a work basket. Also called a bucket truck, boom truck or aerial lift truck, it drives to site, deploys outriggers and positions workers at height for electrical, arborist, telecommunications, signage and building-maintenance work. We support cherry picker fleets with inspections, structural testing, repairs, hire and sales assistance.
Australian sites, manufacturers and buyers use different names for similar access equipment. These are the terms commonly used for this category.
The safest and most economical access choice starts with the real job conditions — not just the maximum height in a brochure.
