How This Works & Assumptions
How it works
Add each machine to the register with what you know: a fleet number or make/model to identify it, the equipment type, and the dates. For the 10-year major inspection the tool counts ten years from the last major inspection if you've recorded one, otherwise from the date of manufacture. For the annual inspection it counts twelve months from the last annual you entered — if you don't enter one, no annual date is shown, because there's nothing to calculate from.
Each machine gets a status the moment the page loads: Overdue if the soonest due date has passed, Due within 12 months if it falls inside the next year, and On track if it's further out. The register sorts with the most urgent machine first so you always see what needs booking. All the date maths uses today's date read once, in your browser, after the page loads.
Questions
Where is my fleet data stored? Entirely in your own browser, using local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to us or uploaded anywhere. Clearing your browser data — or using a different device or browser — will start you with an empty register, so export a CSV if you want a backup.
Is the 10-year major a legal requirement? In Australia a major inspection is commonly triggered at ten years under the AS 2550.10 safe-use framework. That's the widely applied trigger — the manufacturer's requirements and the machine's duty cycle can bring it forward. This tool assumes the ten-year point for planning; it is not a compliance determination. There is no separate legislated five-year major requirement.
Why doesn't every machine show an annual due date? The annual due date only appears when you've entered the date of the last annual inspection. Without that reference point there's nothing honest to count twelve months from, so the tool leaves it blank rather than inventing a date.
Is this a substitute for a compliance schedule? No. It's a planning aid to keep due dates visible. The definitive timing for any machine comes from its logbook, the manufacturer's requirements and its inspection history.
