Ruthmann Truck-Mounted EWP Inspections & Repairs
Ruthmann, the German manufacturer behind the Steiger range, builds truck-mounted aerial platforms known for long reach and precise control, used on infrastructure, facilities and specialist access work in Australia. As an independent specialist we keep that plant compliant through inspection, repair, NDT and major inspection, covering the boom, the stability systems and the host chassis interface.
We are not a Ruthmann dealer or authorised service agent, and nothing here should suggest we are. Long-reach truck-mounted platforms carry multi-section booms and detailed control systems that reward methodical, impartial assessment to the Australian Standards, and that is what our work delivers — a machine certified on its real condition rather than a badge.
Ruthmann Capabilities
EWP Australia is an independent specialist — not a dealership. These are the Ruthmann services we coordinate nationally.
Periodic & annual inspections
Ruthmann Steiger platforms inspected to AS 2550.10, covering boom structure, hydraulics, outriggers, stability systems and controls, with logbook records for every unit.
Ten-year major inspections
We coordinate the strip-down, structural assessment and recertification Ruthmann plant is due for at the ten-year point under the AS 2550.10 framework.
NDT & load testing
Crack testing of the multi-section boom, pins and welds, plus load and stability testing to confirm a long-reach unit still performs to its rated safe working load.
Repairs & scheduled servicing
Independent hydraulic, mechanical and electrical repairs on Ruthmann platforms, with scheduled maintenance that keeps long-reach units dependable.
Certification & engineering support
We certify units back into service and can coordinate engineering assessment where a platform's history or a repair calls for it.
Ruthmann Ranges We See
Long-reach truck-mounted platforms
Steiger-class aerial platforms mounted on a road-going chassis for long-reach access on infrastructure and facilities work.
Telescopic truck-mounted booms
Straight, multi-section booms built for outreach and working height from a truck chassis.
Articulating jib systems
Jib and cage articulation that positions crews accurately up, over and into complex access points.
Van-mounted access units
Compact platforms on light commercial vehicles for urban maintenance and access-restricted work.
Inspection & Service Notes
- Multi-section long-reach booms concentrate stress at the slide surfaces, pivots and welds, so these are inspected and NDT-tested closely during a major inspection.
- Ruthmann truck and van-mounted platforms depend on their outriggers and levelling, so we check leg operation, foot pads and stability interlocks before crews work at height.
- The sub-frame and interface between the platform and its host chassis are assessed as part of a truck-mounted inspection.
- Jib articulation, cage levelling and the associated control and sensing systems are checked so the platform sits true through the full working envelope.
Common Questions
Are you a Ruthmann dealer or authorised service agent?
No. We are an independent EWP specialist. We inspect, service, repair, load-test and certify Ruthmann equipment, but we hold no dealership or authorised-agent status. That keeps our reporting impartial.
Can you inspect a Ruthmann Steiger long-reach platform?
Yes. We inspect Ruthmann platforms to AS 2550.10, covering the multi-section boom, outriggers, stability systems and chassis interface, with everything recorded in the logbook.
Do you handle Ruthmann 10-year major inspections?
Yes. When a Ruthmann platform reaches ten years we coordinate the strip-down, NDT and recertification required under the AS 2550.10 framework and can plan the downtime around your operation.
Can you carry out NDT on a Ruthmann boom?
Yes. We crack-test the boom sections, pins and welds on long-reach Ruthmann machines as part of major inspections and when assessing a unit after a fault or repair.
