Boom Lift Hire

Boom lifts give you the height and horizontal outreach that scissor lifts and ladders can't. Whether you need to work up and over an obstacle or reach into a structure, EWP Australia coordinates articulating and telescopic boom lift hire to match your reach envelope.

We select units by working height, outreach, drive type and terrain so the machine suits the job rather than forcing the job to suit the machine. Each unit is maintained and inspected to the relevant standards and arrives with the records your site expects.

Who It's For

Built For

  • Construction and civil crews working at height and over obstacles
  • Steel, cladding and facade installers needing outreach
  • Mechanical and electrical services contractors
  • Utilities and infrastructure maintenance teams
  • Painters, cleaners and fit-out trades on multi-storey work
Scope

Equipment & Coverage

  • Articulating (knuckle) boom lifts for up-and-over reach around obstacles
  • Telescopic (straight) boom lifts for maximum horizontal outreach
  • Electric and battery booms for indoor and low-emission sites
  • Diesel and rough-terrain booms for outdoor and uneven ground
  • Working heights spanning the approximate 12–45m range across common models
How It Works

The Process

01

Define reach & terrain

We work out the working height, horizontal outreach and ground conditions so we can size the boom correctly.

02

Match & book

We confirm an articulating or telescopic unit with the right drive type, then schedule it around your program.

03

Deliver & support

The boom is delivered with current inspection records, and we handle collection or extension when you're done.

Compliance & Standards

Boom lifts we hire out are designed to AS/NZS 1418.10 and serviced and inspected under AS 2550.10, the standard governing safe use, maintenance and periodic inspection of elevating work platforms. Hire units carry up-to-date inspection documentation.

Why EWP Australia

  • Up-and-over outreach that fixed access can't achieve
  • Choice of articulating or telescopic to suit the reach envelope
  • Electric and rough-terrain options for indoor or outdoor work
  • Maintained, inspected units with compliance records supplied

Boom Lift Classes at a Glance

Articulating (knuckle) booms trade reach-over capability for a little less outreach; straight (stick) booms maximise height and horizontal reach.

FAQs

Common Questions

Should I choose an articulating or telescopic boom lift?

Articulating (knuckle) booms bend to reach up and over obstacles or into structures, ideal for congested sites. Telescopic booms extend straight out for the greatest horizontal reach on open ground. Tell us the obstacle and reach and we'll advise.

Do boom lifts need a high risk work licence?

In Australia, operating a boom-type EWP with a boom length of 11 metres or more requires a high risk work licence. Most boom lifts fall into this category, so confirm your operators are ticketed for the machine's reach.

Can I use a boom lift indoors?

Yes — electric and battery-powered booms produce no exhaust emissions and are suited to indoor and enclosed work. For outdoor or uneven ground, a diesel rough-terrain boom is generally the better fit.

Are the hire booms compliant and inspected?

Every boom lift is maintained and inspected under AS 2550.10 and supplied with current records, so it's ready for work and your compliance documentation stays complete.
