Fleet EWP Servicing

A single EWP that misses its service is a maintenance problem. A fleet where servicing is tracked machine by machine, through different providers on different schedules, is an operational and compliance risk. Hire companies, councils, utilities and major contractors with large or mixed EWP fleets need servicing managed as a programme — scheduled, documented, consistent across every machine and structured so defects found during service are rectified before the machine goes back to work, not left to surface on a job site.

Fleet servicing programmes are priced and scheduled differently from individual service bookings. The more machines consolidated into a single programme, the more efficiently we can plan and route service visits — and that efficiency flows through to how the work is priced per unit. Whether your fleet is ten scissor lifts at a single yard or a hundred mixed-type EWPs spread across multiple states, a managed service programme removes the administrative overhead of tracking each machine separately and delivers a consistent, documented maintenance standard across the entire fleet.

Who It's For

Built For

  • EWP hire companies keeping their fleet available, serviced and compliant between hires
  • Councils and local governments with EWP fleets used across parks, roads and maintenance teams
  • Utilities, energy and telecommunications operators with truck-mounted EWP and cherry picker fleets
  • Construction and civil contractors with boom lifts and scissor lifts on extended projects
  • Mining and resources organisations with access equipment across multiple sites
  • Any organisation with more than one EWP that wants servicing coordinated rather than reactive
Scope

Equipment & Coverage

  • Boom lifts — telescopic and articulating — all makes and models
  • Scissor lifts — electric slab, diesel rough-terrain, 4WD and compact
  • Cherry pickers and truck-mounted EWPs including insulated and powerline platforms
  • Spider lifts, trailer-mounted and vertical mast lifts
  • Mixed fleets combining multiple EWP types from multiple manufacturers
  • Crane-class machines where servicing is coordinated alongside EWP fleet work
How It Works

The Process

01

Fleet register and service interval mapping

We build a service register for your fleet — every machine, its current service status, what the manufacturer recommends and what the machine's duty cycle actually demands. For a new fleet client this produces a clear baseline of where every unit sits in its service cycle and what needs to happen immediately versus what can be scheduled into the programme window.

02

Scheduled service visits, grouped by location

Service visits are planned and batched by geography — machines at the same yard or site are serviced together, and regionally spread fleets are visited in geographic sequences that minimise travel. For hire companies with machines out on hire at different client sites, we coordinate access directly rather than requiring your team to recall the machine. Larger fleets create more batching options and better scheduling efficiency.

03

Service, inspect and rectify defects before return to work

Each service covers the mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and structural elements appropriate to the machine type and its service interval. Defects found during service are rated and — for fleet programme clients — rectified in the same visit or as a coordinated follow-up rather than reported and left for a separate booking. The machine goes back to work serviced and defect-free, not serviced with a list of things still outstanding.

04

Documented service records across the whole fleet

Every machine that goes through the programme comes back with a service record in a consistent format — what was serviced, what was found, what was rectified and what the next service interval is. For fleet operators managing compliance across a portfolio, having every machine's service documentation in the same structure makes audits, insurance renewals and hire-customer compliance checks straightforward.

Compliance & Standards

AS 2550.10 requires that elevated work platforms are maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the requirements of the standard, with records kept of all servicing and maintenance carried out. For fleet operators, the obligation applies to every machine in the fleet individually — a missed or undocumented service on one unit in a hire fleet is the same liability as a missed service on a single machine. A managed fleet servicing programme makes it operationally straightforward to keep every machine current rather than relying on individual site managers or hire customers to track their own service dates. We do not invent service intervals; the schedule follows the manufacturer's requirements and the duty cycle the machine is actually running.

Why EWP Australia

  • Volume rates for fleet programmes — more machines consolidated together means better pricing per unit
  • Planned, batched service visits minimise fleet downtime and operational disruption
  • Defects found during service rectified before the machine returns to work — not added to a list
  • Consistent service documentation across every machine in the fleet
  • Service register managed for you — no machine goes overdue without warning
  • Covers all makes, models and equipment types in a mixed fleet
FAQs

Common Questions

How does fleet servicing pricing compare to booking each machine separately?

Booking machines individually means separate travel, separate scheduling overhead and no ability to batch the work efficiently. When multiple machines are serviced under a single programme, we route visits to minimise travel between units and plan the schedule around your operational windows. That efficiency reduces the cost per machine compared with individual bookings — and the larger the fleet, the more pronounced the difference.

Can you service our machines while they are out on hire at client sites?

Yes. For hire companies whose machines are out with clients, we coordinate site access directly when we are booking the service visit rather than requiring you to recall the machine to your yard. This keeps the hire revenue stream intact and the machine in the client's hands, while the service is completed on site.

What does an EWP service actually cover?

A standard EWP service covers the mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and structural elements appropriate to the machine type — oil and filter changes, hydraulic fluid checks, wear component inspection, structural and pin checks, electrical system and controls check, and any manufacturer-specified interval items. The scope is specific to the machine model and its service interval rather than a generic checklist applied regardless of the equipment type.

We have a mixed fleet — boom lifts, scissors and cherry picker trucks. Can one programme cover all of them?

Yes. Fleet servicing programmes cover all EWP types and all brands under a single coordinated programme. Mixed fleets are batched by location and equipment type where practical, and the service scope for each machine is appropriate to what that machine actually is — not a uniform treatment regardless of type.

Can fleet servicing be combined with the fleet certification programme?

Yes, and it is more efficient when it is. Coordinating service and certification visits — particularly annual inspections alongside scheduled servicing — means fewer separate visits, less machine downtime and a more complete record after each visit. We structure fleet programmes to combine service and inspection work wherever the machine's schedule allows it.

How do you handle defects found during a service?

Defects found during a fleet service visit are rated by severity — safety-critical items are separated from items that can be deferred to planned maintenance — and documented in the service record. For fleet programme clients, we can arrange repair in the same visit or as a coordinated follow-up through the same channel rather than requiring a separate engagement. The machine does not go back to work with outstanding safety-critical items unresolved.
